Companies and their people

Private customers have levels of their own. A company has one level for the whole company, and every contact person who buys for it gets the company's prices.

Private or company: how the levels decide

Each contact gets the levels of its kind: B2C levels for a private person, B2B levels for a company. A contact counts as a company (B2B) when any of these is true:

Everyone else is a private person (B2C). On Odoo 18 and 19 only the Person / Company switch counts, so a person with a VAT number of their own stays private. How Odoo marks a company differs by version:

So on Odoo 18 and 19, a private person with a VAT number still counts as B2B for the levels, whatever the switch says.

Switching a company on

  1. On the company's contact, clear Excluded from Levels. It gets the lowest B2B level.
  2. On each contact person who should get a card, clear it too. Switching the company on does not switch on its people.
    Company with its contact persons

A contact person's form shows the company's level, with no period or opening spend of its own.

Switching off

One person, two cards

Someone who buys privately and for their employer has two Odoo contacts and two cards: a private card with a B2C level and a company card with the company's level. Leaving one keeps the other.

When a customer's kind changes

When a person becomes a company, or a company becomes a person, by any of the rules above, the level moves to the other kind's levels at the save. A company record holds no card of its own.
